It is a relational database application that uses a fast, high performance calculation engine to handle large, complex models quickly and efficiently. In order to build your product cost models and analyse your cost data you need to define some or all of the following data:- General ledger codes and cost allocation tables Resources, including cost-to-serve resources Activities and processes Materials and components and the scrap, waste, by-products and quality choices produced, either in a Bill of Materials or Recipe structure or in a summary or 'generic' format Standard, actual, forecast and budget price tables, either imported or set up locally Machine speeds, throughput rates, process times or the cost and time equations and tables of data used to calculate machine occupancy times and the units in which activities and resources are consumed. Product and material attributes such as thickness, width, yield, weight or quality that are used by data tables, cost and time equations and automatic dependency calculations The product structure - its hierarchy and genealogy- and the process route Customers and business channels Analysis dimensions, analysis codes and analysis types that are in line with the analytical accounting needs of your business.
